Palm T|X instructions for joining EUD wireless network
You can purchase a $6 software/firmware add-on for the Palm T|X PDA that permits it to
"speak" to an EAP-TLS network such as AirEUD.
Getting certificates in hand
You will need two certificates:
- Your AirEUD certificate in PKCS12 format (aka the .p12 file
file you were sent).
- the EUD Root CA certificate in DER format, available here:
eud_cacert.der.
Getting Palm's Enterprise Security Update
First of all, please go to:
http://www.palm.com/us/software/esu/index.html
From that site, buy the $6 Palm Enterprise Security Update. Make sure to
do a complete backup, because you will be required to do a "hard reset"
of your Palm. (You will also need access to a PC to do the first step.)
- Follow their directions, including running the Profile Wizard.

- Save your configuration under some meaningful name (e.g., "GSFC AirEUD" or some
such), since you will see this name in the Palm.
- Upload that configuration to the Palm via either Bluetooth, a sync operation
or copying it to an SD card.
Configuration on the Palm
- Open the "Prefs" application and select "Wi-Fi" in the communications
section.
- Select "Setup..." from this "Preferences" dialog box.
- You may get a request to scan for Wi-Fi networks; reply
'Yes' to turn the radio on. The AirEUD network is hidden (does not
broadcast its name) and will not show on the scanned network list
until it has been manually set up.
- In the now-open "Wi-Fi Networks" dialog box:
- Select Edit...->Add... (this will open the "New Wi-Fi Network" dialog)
- Enter the 'Network Name' as "AirEUD" (without quotes)
- Set the other entries in the "Wi-Fi Networks" dialog box as follows:
- Security: Enterprise
- Mode: WEP (Dynamic)
- Encryption: WEP
- Profile: GSFC AirEUD (or whatever you named it, above)
[Should now look like this: "Wi-Fi Network"]
- Click on "Edit Profile Settings"
- Enter Username to precisely match "<your_name>" (without
angle brackets, of course). You will crash the RADIUS server if you
get this wrong.

- Click on "Advanced"
- Set to "EAP-TLS"
["Advanced Profile Settings" screenshot]
- Click on "OK" in the "Advanced Profile Settings" dialog box to close it.
- Click on "OK" in the "Set Profile Username" dialog box to close it.
- Click on "OK" in the "New Wi-Fi Network" dialog box to close it.
- In the now-displayed "Wi-Fi Networks" dialog, the list should have
'AirEUD' as an entry.
Highlight it and then select 'Connect'.
At this point, your Palm should be configured for AirEUD wireless access.
- You should not need to change anything else. [screenshots of
