Present Position Principal Programmer Analyst, SP Systems, Inc.
Web development, graphic design, and science support.
Brief Bio Karen came to GSFC in 1987 and was a solar forecaster for the Solar Maximum Mission
satellite for several years. Shortly before the demise of the SMM, Karen moved to the
Astrophysics Science Division (then LHEA) and became a Mission Planner
for the Broad Band X-ray Telescope (part of the ASTRO-1
shuttle mission). Karen joined the HEASARC in February of 1991, where she worked
as a coordinator for the ROSAT and ASCA
Guest Observer Facilities. She also edited
Legacy, the ROSAT Newsletter,
and the ASCA Newsletter over the years.
Currently, Karen is a web developer for the EUD, HEASARC, and AstroGravS web sites. She is actively involved the the EUD
public outreach efforts, designing posters, CD-ROM artwork and other products for the
Imagine the Universe! site. She supports science peer reviews for RXTE,
Suzaku (Astro-E2), and Swift.
Educational Background B.A. in Physics from the Unversity of Colorado, 1986
(emphasis in astrophysical, planetary and atmospheric sciences)
