XRS-2 PhotosLTTO and Launch →Returning From the Tower

Distorted by motion blur in the dim greenish cast of mercury light, three people walk across the moist surface of the launch area, the tower standing patiently behind them. (73K JPEG)

Following the final closeout of the XRS instrument in the wee hours of July 6, our team returns from the tower, ready for a launch. The plumbing has been removed and the valves all sealed, the electrical connections are removed and shorting plugs installed, and the access hole in the nose fairing has had its cover installed.
