XRS-2 PhotosXRS Calibration →The Continuum Source

Bottom-up view of the foil-wrapped X-ray source aimed at the test Dewar (32K JPEG)

The continuum source shining down onto the test Dewar. This source provides X-rays over a wide band of energies, from a few hundred eV to about 17 keV. We performed this calibration while in an EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) test room, with the Dewar vertical, so we had to stick the source up on a lift, aiming down.
